Activity 13 Thematic Apperception Test
Purpose: To learn the theory behind projective testing and investigate our own unconscious motives.
Objectives: Tell stories to TAT like pictures and analyze them.
Materials:
Ambiguous social situation slides.
Student preparation: Do people have unconscious motives?
Can projective tests identify unconscious motives?
Could other ambiguous stimuli such as houses be used to identify unconscious motives?
Could this be an explanation for haunted houses?
Procedure:
- Look at the slide.
- Explain the meaning of the slide by making up a story.
- Tell what led up to the events in the picture.
- What is happening?
- What are the characters in the picture thinking and feeling?
- How will the event turn out?
- Try to identify the theme of your stories, the needs and presses in your stories.
